With domestic market share of over 20 per cent in stainless steel flats (200 series) category, the Indore-based Mittal Corp Ltd (MCL) is well poised to become the leading manufacturer of Stainless Steel Long Products benchmarked with international Standards.
The flagship company of the Mittal Group, MCL led by its young & dynamic MD Mr. Karan Mittal, is set to deliver products like Stainless Steel, Alloy Steel and Special Steel Rods in Coils, Rounds, construction bars manufactured through QTR/ QTB Process from Danieli Morgardshmmar, Italy. As well it offers quality stainless steel rebars for India’s construction market.
MCL have brought world class technology for manufacturing stainless steel and alloy steel long products and have taken entire new plant, machinery and equipment from Danieli Morgardshmmar who are acknowledged leaders in manufacturing of rolling mill and steel plant equipment globally.
The plant is an excellent example of engineering is flexible mill capable for producing wire rod; rounds with contemporary technology and processes have commenced production.
Contemporary world class rolling technologies are being applied installed are being for the first time in India for stainless steel and alloy steel grades. Some of the key features include reheating furnace with moving hearth for uniform heating and low scale formation, input size of 160 x 160 mm billet; de-scalar before roughing stands to remove scale formed during reheating, etc.
Technological features also include intermediate rolling on horizontal-vertical roll configuration that allows for better control during rolling due to no twist arrangement; V-type 10-stand wire rod block with post rolling arrangement of ‘forced cooling’, ‘retarded cooling’ as well as quenching facilities to achieve grain size/structure and mechanical properties for different grades in consonance with requirement of end user industry.
The 10-stand wire rod block is suitable for rolling the toughest material like stainless steel, nickel alloy, carbon steel and rebar, with closest industrial tolerances. It is equipped with no-housing stand with high axial and radial rigidity for enabling low temperature rolling.
In the recent years the company has bagged several accolades including: ‘Dhatu Nayak Award 2009’ by All India Induction & Furnace Association; ‘Stainless Steel Excellence Award 2010 by Ministry of Steel, Government of India.
MCL is an ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certified organization and have been granted BIS 1786:2008 certification for its construction bars in Grade Fe 500 D.
Going further a garret line capable of producing wire rod up to 45 mm in stainless steel and alloy steel grades is being planned for ever growing requirement of niche end use.
The company is considering bringing a state-of-the-art steel melt shop to produce all the niche stainless steel and alloy steel grades in consonance with the capacity of the wire rod mill
